UNFCCC/CDM International Photo and Video Contest 2011

UNFCCC/CDM Photo Contest 2011

Winner of the 2010 Photo Contest
The UNFCCC secretariat is pleased to announce the launch of UNFCCC/CDM Photo Contest 2011 intended to raise awareness about the Kyoto Protocol’s clean development mechanism.

Whether you are a professional or an amateur photographer, send us your best photos on the theme “CDM Changing Lives” and help the world learn about the value of the CDM.

We’re looking for striking images that showcase CDM projects or their related benefits. Whether it’s a photo highlighting a climate-friendly project or related benefits in health, sanitation, infrastructure development, rural electrification or some other area, we want to see your vision of this remarkable mechanism.

Photos will be judged on originality, technical excellence, artistic merit, and their persuasiveness in telling the story of the CDM on the theme “Changing Lives”. The Wow Factor is also very important, so we’ll be looking for photos able to grab the viewer’s attention and hold it.

This is a great opportunity for photographers to gain global exposure and recognition. The winning works will be displayed at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Durban in December 2011, when the countries of the world will be working hard to develop a global response to the challenge of climate change. Plus, submitted works could feature prominently in important print and promotional material and on the UNFCCC website.

Have a winning shot? Then send it in. Show off your work, show off the benefits of the CDM, and help promote development and GHG emission reductions.

Submission deadline: 15 October 2011

UNFCCC/CDM Video Contest 2011
Recognizing the growing popularity of web video, the UNFCCC secretariat has launched a video contest aimed at spreading the word about the CDM, on the theme “CDM Changing Lives”. We invite you to grab a camcorder, put on your director’s cap and create a compelling, exciting video that completes the phrase: “People should know about this CDM project because…”

From animated shorts to mini-documentaries, we will be looking for videos that tell an interesting CDM story, whether it is about the creation of new jobs, the greening of industry, or the development of rural services and infrastructure. The video contest is open to any individuals or groups, professional or amateur.

Winner of the 2010 Video Contest
Judging will be based on originality, composition, technical excellence, artistic merit and effectiveness in addressing the theme and completing the phrase “People should know about this CDM project because…”. Our judges also appreciate humour, so send us a video that will make them smile.

This is a great opportunity for contest entrants to gain widespread exposure for their videos. The winning videos will be presented at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Durban in December 2011 and will also feature prominently on the UNFCCC CDM website.

It’s your chance to let the world know how CDM projects are making a difference and inspire others to do the same. Send us your video.
