Η Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για την Πολιτιστική Ποικιλομορφία για το Διάλογο και την Ανάπτυξη, που διακηρύχθηκε από τη Γενική Συνέλευση του ΟΗΕ τον Δεκέμβριο του 2002 και γιορτάζεται στις 21 Μαΐου. Παρέχει την ευκαιρία για κινητοποίηση εκ μέρους όλων των παραγόντων (κυβερνήσεις, φορείς χάραξης πολιτικής, τις οργανώσεις της κοινωνίας των πολιτών, των κοινοτήτων, της πολιτιστικής επαγγελματίες) να προωθήσει τον πολιτισμό στην ποικιλομορφία της και σε όλες τις μορφές της: υλική και άυλη κληρονομιά, δημιουργικές βιομηχανίες, αγαθών και υπηρεσιών.

Η εμπειρία δείχνει ότι το μοντέλο αποτελεσματικής ανάπτυξης είναι εκείνο που ενσωματώνει πραγματικά τοπικές πολιτισμικές ιδιαιτερότητες, ώστε να προκαλείται η εμπλοκή των ενδιαφερόμενων κοινοτήτων.

Την ημέρα αυτή, η UNESCO υπογραμμίζει την ανάγκη για την καταπολέμηση των ανισορροπιών που υπάρχουν μεταξύ των παγκόσμιων ανταλλαγών πολιτιστικών αγαθών, και τονίζει τη σημασία της διατήρησης των πιο ευάλωτων πολιτισμών του κόσμου, μαζί με την ανάγκη για την πολιτιστική πολιτική και τα διαρθρωτικά μέτρα στις αναπτυσσόμενες χώρες. Τονίζει επίσης τη σημασία του να γνωρίζει την αξία της πολιτιστικής πολυμορφίας σε όλες τις γλώσσες.

Ιδιαίτερη προσοχή δίνεται στις εθνικές πολιτιστικές πολιτικές που αναγνωρίζουν τη συμβολή της παραδοσιακής γνώσης, ιδιαίτερα όταν πρόκειται για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και διαχείριση των φυσικών πόρων, η οποία ενθαρρύνει τις συνέργειες μεταξύ της σύγχρονης επιστήμης και την τοπική γνώση.

Καθαρίζουμε την Ελλάδα σε μία μέρα!

Η χώρα μας συμμετέχει για 1η φορά στη διεθνή καμπάνια καθαρισμού

Πόσοι Εθελοντές Μπορούμε να μαζευτούμε;

Την Κυριακή 29 Απριλίου οι Εθελοντές παίρνουν την Ελλάδα στα χέρια τους και αποφασίζουν να καθαρίσουν μέσα σε μία μόνο ημέρα ολόκληρη την χώρα από κάθε λογής σκουπίδια.

Όταν πριν από μερικούς μήνες ξεκίνησε η προώθηση της καμπάνιας στη χώρα μας φαινόταν δύσκολο και φάνταζε σαν τη μεγαλύτερη πρόκληση που θα είχαμε ποτέ να αντιμετωπίσουμε. Η ΕΕΣΔΑ και ο «Ώρα για Δράση» ως διοργανωτές της καμπάνιας αποφασίσαμε να κινητοποιήσουμε και να ενημερώσουμε κάθε ενεργό φορέα από κάθε άκρη της Ελλάδας.

Η ανταπόκριση όλων ήταν συγκινητική και άμεση και τα αριθμητικά αποτελέσματα μέχρι στιγμής ξεπερνούν κάθε προηγούμενο. Ενώσαμε τις φωνές μας με όλους τους εθελοντικούς φορείς της Ελλάδας, αλλά και όλους όσους θέλουν να συμβάλλουν, και βάλαμε μαζί στόχο να καθαρίσουμε μέσα σε μία μόνο ημέρα από απλές περιοχές έως και σημαντικά οικοσυστήματα της χώρας μας.

Είναι μία πρωτοφανής για τα ελληνικά δεδομένα προσπάθεια η οποία όμως με τη συμμετοχή όλων μας μπορεί να επιτευχθεί.

Καταφέραμε να ενεργοποιήσουμε σε ολόκληρη την Ελλάδα εθελοντικές οργανώσεις, συλλόγους, δήμους, υπηρεσίες, επιχειρήσεις, σχολεία και άλλους φορείς και ΟΛΟΙ ΜΑΖΙ να καταφέρουμε να πετύχουμε το μεγάλο στόχο!!!

Περίπου 10 ημέρες πριν από την ημέρα της δράσης 210 φορείς και 65 Δήμοι πανελλαδικά, οργανώνουν σε πολλαπλά σημεία τις δικές τους τοπικές δράσεις και καλούν τους εθελοντές τους να καθαρίσουν όλοι μαζί την χώρα, λέγοντας δυναμικά “Let’s Do It Greece”.

Σημαντικό, όμως, είναι να δείξουμε και τον αριθμό των εθελοντών που θα συμμετέχουν την ημέρα της δράσης. Στόχος, είναι να κινητοποιηθούν όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερες χιλιάδες πολιτών. Ας είναι το ποσοστό της Ελλάδας εκείνο που θα ξεχωρίσει στην παγκόσμια καμπάνια. Στην Εσθονία συγκεντρώθηκαν 50.000 εθελοντές, στη Λιθουανία 393.000, στη Λετονία 500.000, στην Πορτογαλία 100.000, στο Νέο Δελχί 50.000, στη Σλοβενία 270.000, στη Ρουμανία 200.000, στη Φιλανδία 300.000. Στην Ελλάδα πόσοι θα είμαστε;;;

Καλούμε, λοιπόν, κάθε ενεργό και ευαισθητοποιημένο Έλληνα Πολίτη να δηλώσει τη συμμετοχή του μέσω της επίσημης ιστοσελίδας της καμπάνιας, www.letsdoitgreece.org, δίνοντας το e-mail του (στην κατηγορία Δηλώστε Συμμετοχή – Πολίτες) για να ενημερωθεί για τις δράσεις που θα γίνουν στην περιοχή του. Η υποστήριξη και η συμμετοχή όλων μετράει. Ας δείξουμε όλοι οι Έλληνες μαζί την Όμορφη, Καθαρή και Δημιουργική πλευρά της χώρας μας.

Η προθεσμία υποβολής λήγει στις 9 Σεπτεμβρίου.

Χάρη στην ενιαία αγορά της ΕΕ, μπορούμε να ταξιδεύουμε, να σπουδάζουμε, να εργαζόμαστε και να κάνουμε αγορές σε άλλες χώρες χωρίς ιδιαίτερα προβλήματα.

Η κατάργηση εκατοντάδων τεχνικών, νομικών και γραφειοκρατικών εμποδίων έδωσε ώθηση στην οικονομική ανάπτυξη και βοήθησε στη δημιουργία 2,8 εκατομμυρίων νέων θέσεων εργασίας τα τελευταία 20 χρόνια.

Η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή επιθυμεί να ακούσει τη φωνή των πολιτών που μεγάλωσαν σ΄αυτήν την ενιαία αγορά και γι’ αυτό διοργανώνει έναν διαγωνισμό για όσους γεννήθηκαν το 1992.

Μπορείτε να λάβετε μέρος και σεις καταγράφοντας τις απόψεις και τις εμπειρίες σας για το πώς η ενιαία αγορά επηρέασε τη ζωή σας. Δημιουργήστε ένα βίντεο ή μια εφαρμογή “έξυπνου τηλεφώνου”, στείλτε φωτογραφίες, κόμικς ή εκθέσεις με ένα από τα ακόλουθα 4 θέματα:

πολίτες και εκπαίδευση

επιχειρηματικότητα και θέσεις εργασίας

ψυχαγωγία και πολιτισμός

περιβάλλον και καταναλωτές.

Μπορεί να συμμετάσχει ο οποιοσδήποτε. Δεν είναι απαραίτητο να είστε επαγγελματίας φωτογράφος, κινηματογραφιστής ή καλλιτέχνης. Περισσότερες πρακτικές συμβουλές μπορείτε να βρείτε στον ιστότοπο “Η Γενιά του 1992″.

Ψάχνουμε για συμμετοχές που δείχνουν πώς αντιλαμβάνεστε την ενιαία αγορά: τι σημαίνει για σας και τι περιμένετε απ’ αυτήν στο μέλλον.

Πώς μπορείτε να συμμετάσχετε

Μπορείτε να υποβάλετε έως και 2 συμμετοχές, είτε μόνος σας είτε ως μέλος ομάδας, υπό την προϋπόθεση ότι θα χρησιμοποιήσετε διαφορετικούς μορφότυπους.

Η προθεσμία υποβολής συμμετοχών λήγει στις 9 Σεπτεμβρίου. Μην αργείτε, όμως, γιατί όλες οι συμμετοχές που θα υποβάλλονται πριν από την λήξη της προθεσμίας θα περιλαμβάνονται σε μηνιαίες κληρώσεις βραβείων.

Οι κριτές θα επιλέξουν 20 φιναλίστ, οι οποίοι θα ταξιδέψουν τον Οκτώβριο στις Βρυξέλλες για να παραλάβουν τα βραβεία τους: κάρτες για σιδηροδρομικά ταξίδια σ’ όλη την Ευρώπη, ψηφιακές κάμερες, iPods και κουπόνια για αγορές.

Η τελετή θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις Βρυξέλες (15-20 Οκτωβρίου) στο πλαίσιο συνεδρίου όπου θα συζητηθούν νέοι τρόποι ανάπτυξης της Ευρώπης χωρίς σύνορα.

Η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή προγραμματίζει επίσης την υποβολή νέων προτάσεων με σκοπό την άρση όσων εμποδίων υπάρχουν ακόμα στην ελεύθερη κυκλοφορία των ατόμων, των υπηρεσιών και των αγαθών στην Ευρώπη. Οι προτάσεις αυτές θα συμπληρώσουν τα 12 μέτρα προτεραιότητας DeutschEnglishfrançais που η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή υπέβαλε πέρυσι τον Απρίλιο.

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) again invite the world’s youth to submit original and creative videos focusing on PLURAL+ themes: migration, diversity and social inclusion.

Recognizing youth as powerful agents of social change in a world often characterized by intolerance, and cultural and religious divisions, PLURAL+ invites youth to address key challenges in their communities related to migrant integration, inclusiveness, identity, diversity, human rights and social cohesiveness, both at local and global levels. Young people up to 25 years old are invited to submit short videos of five minutes maximum in length.

Marc Scheuer, Director of the UNAOC, said “PLURAL+ videos fit very well in this very relevant conversation: how to build more inclusive societies where we can all live together in harmony.” Michele Klein-Solomon, Permanent Observer to the United Nations, IOM, added “PLURAL+ videos touch very sensitive issues in a very real way. They look at the realities that people are facing; we like to see young people expressing their profound ideas in a manner that allows the opening of a dialogue.”

The proclamation of 22 April as International Mother Earth Day is an acknowledgement that the
Earth and its ecosystems provide its inhabitants with life and sustenance. It also recognizes a
collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with
nature and the Earth to achieve a balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of
present and future generations of humanity.
Mother Earth is a common expression amongst many peoples for the planet Earth. It reflects the
view of not only the interdependence of all living beings but of kinship with the Earth itself.
Many indigenous peoples in Latin America call Mother Earth “Pachamama”. For many
indigenous peoples, including the Australian Aborigines, the Earth does not belong to them but
they belong to the Earth – I come from there – she is my Mother (they would say).
The concept of Mother Earth is very much in harmony with the ecosystem approach which is one
of the pillars of the Convention on Biological Diversity and also with the precautionary principle
contained in Principle 15 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and the
preamble to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
International Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise public awareness around the
world to the challenges regarding the well-being of the planet and the life it supports.
Accelerating environmental degradation and climate change make it all the more urgent to ensure
the sustainability of development.
It is also an opportunity to draw attention to the role of indigenous and local communities and
their traditional knowledge – that intimate in-depth knowledge of the local environment held by
indigenous and local communities. It is the knowledge of the cycles of the Earth and all that
lives on it.
The Convention’s work on respecting traditional knowledge (Article 8(j)) and its commitment to
the effective participation of indigenous and local communities grounds the Convention in a daily
reality of peoples directly dependant on biological diversity for their daily lives. Furthermore
their contribution to the work of the Convention is immeasurable. Their presence is a constant
reminder to all of us that we are all interconnected with each other and to the Earth itself.
I remain convinced that the Earth and its rich biodiversity will be preserved by the actions all of
us take on a daily basis, to help nurture and sustain our common matriarch, Mother Earth.

YOUNG INNOVATORS COMPETITION – YOUR INNOVATION ON A WORLD STAGE

This is your opportunity to shine a global ICT spotlight on your innovative ideas and digital creativity. Enter the Young Innovators Competition at ITU Telecom World 2012 to show the world how your fresh thinking and talent for technology can provide real-world solutions to real-world problems and change the future for the better. Showcase your innovation on a truly international stage and win the chance to access development workshops, industry expertise and the unparalleled networking potential of World 2012.

Are you 18-25 years old?
Do you have an innovative ICT based idea, project, or prototype?
Do you have what it takes to be a social entrepreneur?
Are you in need of resources to take the next step?

If your answer is yes to these questions, this could be just the competition for you. Everything from early-stage ideas to mature projects to established prototypes using innovative ICT to support development can compete to win!

The winning Young Innovators will be invited to come to ITU Telecom World 2012 in Dubai, where they will receive the following:

Up to 10,000 CHF each in prize money. Great ideas can win CHF 5,000 prize money, and innovative projects/working prototypes can win CHF 10,000
High level industry mentorship: The once-in-a-lifetime chance to gain guidance, promote and share ideas with some of the industry’s top executives, along with top level government representatives from across the globe. Benefit from intensive one-on-one sessions with high level industry mentors + their support over a one year development period
Hands-on Workshop: workshop training focusing on business skills and pitching
Networking opportunities with high level delegates: Unique opportunity to meet, network and build relationships with the industry’s top ICT names
Showcase at the InnovatorSpace: Demo your ideas to our influential audience
