“Digital and Media Literacy for Active Citizenship” in Italy

This was my first Erasmus+ project in Palermo about Digital and Media Literacy for Active Citizenship and by the experience I got I’m sure there are many more to come in the future. In the begginning I was hesitant about joining such projects as I didn’t want to spoil my daily schedule but finally I’m sure it was worth it. This particular training course had it all. Staying for four days in the rural area of Palermo, an area which was deeply traditional both in its architecture and in the people’s daily routine, gave you the impression that you had seen and experienced the whole Italian culture in such few days. Workshops and seminars with participants of all ages from 13 different countries, organised by really friendly and helpful locals about such an interesting and concerning topic as Digital Media dangers etc. made this training course at least enjoyful for me. To sum up, through this training course, I had the opportunity to meet new people from different places of the world and make friendships that will last, get to know the Italian traditional culture and most importantly get informed and trained on a really concerning topic nowadays – the dangers of the digital media and how can we be active citizens through them. I strongly suggest anyone who has the opportunity to join such projects.

Αν και έχω συμμετάσχει αρκετές φορές σε ανταλλαγές νέων μέσω του προγράμματος Erasmus+, ήταν η πρώτη φορά που μου δώθηκε η ευκαιρία να συμμετάσχω σε training. Τα σεμινάρια και οι παρουσιάσεις που παρακολουθήσαμε καθόλη τη διάρκεια του προγράμματος ήταν πραγματικά πολύ ενδιαφέροντα ενώ οι δραστηριότητες που είχαν ετοιμάσει οι διοργανωτές ήταν πολύ διασκεδαστικές και ευχάριστες. Επιπλέον, μας δόθηκε η ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουμε ανθρώπους από διάφορες χώρες, οι οποίοι προέρχονταν απο διαφορετικούς οργανισμούς. Πέραν του ότι μας δόθηκε η ευκαιρία να διευρύνουμε τις γνώσεις μας για άλλους πολιτισμούς, δημιουργήσαμε επίσης διασυνδέσεις με όλους τους οργανισμούς που εκπροσωπούνταν από τους συμμετέχοντες. Φεύγοντας από το Παλέρμο, γυρίσαμε γεμάτοι γνώσεις, εμπειρίες και καινούργιες φιλίες που ποτέ δεν περιμέναμε να αποκτήσουμε.
