“Something New” in Netherlands
“Something New” Training Course
26 August–1 September, 2023
Ommen, the Netherlands
PRAXIS & Olde Vetche
The “Something New” Training Course gathered 30 young and talented facilitators, forming a dynamic learning environment of co-creation and experimentation for facilitation skills.
Young adults, from 10 European countries, got together in August of 2023 in Olde Vetche to explore context-based and non-formal education while gaining confidence in their own facilitation skills and program design.
The Greek Team consisted of 2 participants with a diverse background of facilitation skills.

Here is what they have to say about the experience:
“This Training Course marked my “comeback”. After a hiatus of 3.5 years from active participation in Youth Work as a facilitator, this course rekindled my love for Youth Work, Educational Activities, and Facilitation Skills. The way this training was designed enabled participants to use real-life examples of inconvenient situations that they might have encountered, making it even more impactful for us. This approach allowed us to address our unique burning questions and gain valuable insights based on their personal experiences. With 30 like-minded individuals, all eager to learn and grow, participants were provided with the ideal space for experimentation. Co-creating and designing educational activities became a collective endeavor, fostering a sense of collaboration and camaraderie among the participants.
The course’s emphasis on using real-life experiences and creating a safe space for experimentation undoubtedly contributed to its success and impact on the participants.“

“Participating in the Erasmus+ project focused on young facilitators has been a transformative experience for me, as it was the first Training Course I have participated in. This initiative not only broadened my horizons but also allowed me to witness the incredible potential of youth in fostering positive change. As a young facilitator, I had the opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds, all driven by a shared passion for community development. Through numerous activities and collaborative projects, I honed my facilitation skills, gaining a deeper understanding of effective communication, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
Moreover, the project provided a unique platform for exchanging ideas, inconvenient situations, and perspectives. Beyond the educational aspect, Erasmus+ gave me a profound sense of belonging to a global community of change-makers promoting inclusivity and understanding. It has left an indelible mark on my personal and professional development, inspiring me to continue empowering young people to make a positive impact on the world.
In essence, the ”Something New” Training Course has not only enriched the lives of these 30 young facilitators but has also set in motion a powerful force for positive change. Their dedication to nurturing the potential of youth, promoting inclusivity, and driving innovation in non- formal education will undoubtedly leave a lasting imprint on the communities they serve, creating a brighter and more empowered future for all.
As we look to the future, we can only anticipate the positive impact that these 30 dynamic facilitators will have on the field of Youth Work and non-formal education.”
