Volunteering in PRAXIS. My experience so far.

6 months already, 6th months I arried here, in Serres.

It’s been half a year but also more than half of the project length. It feels untrue to me, unbelievable that I spent this amount of time living here surrounded by the volunteers who are now special in my life.

When I first got here, everything was new for me. New home, new work, new environment and new surroundings. It was also a first time for many things. First year being out of school, first time away from my family for this long, first time so far from my home. Everything seemed scary at first but throughout the days, the weeks and the months, I got used to being here, working here and living here. I feel like now we’re part of the environment of Serres.

My acclimation to this new life was easier than I thought because I was surrounded by people living the same experience as me and we all were supporting eachother.

I think that everyone of us changed from who we were when we arrived in this volunteering. We all grew up and evolved in our ways of being, working and dealing with this new life. We’ve met many people who also made this journey pleasant and that’s one of the aspects I find the more positive from the project.

To sum up, I’m greatful for this enriching oportunity!
