From Reflection to Action: Practical Coaching Tools for Educators
On 10 September 2025, an in-school professional development workshop was organised as part of the local actions of the Erasmus+ CATCH project, which focused on integrating coaching principles and practices into education in order to strengthen teachers’ professional development, communication, and well-being.
The training session, entitled “From Reflection to Action: Practical Coaching Tools for Educators,” took place both indoors and in the school’s outdoor learning area. Its main objective was to introduce teachers to practical Social Coaching tools and demonstrate how coaching techniques can be effectively applied in everyday educational settings to enhance teaching practices, strengthen interpersonal communication, and promote collaborative learning among teachers, students, parents, and colleagues.
The workshop was highly interactive and experiential. Participants engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, including creative techniques for forming groups, trust-building exercises, the use of concept mapping (Mind-Mapping) as a learning and Reflection tool, Verbal Metaphors as a means of communication and personal development, and Active Listening strategies. Special emphasis was also placed on selecting the most appropriate coaching methodology according to the specific needs of different groups and educational contexts. These practical tools highlighted the importance of coaching in supporting both individual growth and collective development within the school community.
The session concluded with a structured reflection and feedback circle, where participants shared their experiences, reflected on the learning process, and discussed ways of transferring the newly acquired coaching practices into their everyday teaching. This local action directly supports the objectives of the Erasmus+ CATCH Project by fostering a coaching culture in schools, encouraging reflective practice, strengthening collaboration, and empowering educators to create more inclusive, supportive, and learner-centred educational environments.
